Do you wonder how some people seem to breeze through life without a care in the world? Some people just don’t seem phased about things while others worry and get upset about everything. What do they know that you don’t? They know how to let it go.

Letting go isn’t an easy thing to do, it’s an acquired skill learned with much practice. Holding on to drama is not only bad for you psychologically but physically as well. Doctor’s offices are full of people with high blood pressure due to stress that can be lessened or eliminated.

I have learned that life is way too short to hold on to drama. For many people it takes the loss of a loved one or significant life change to make one realize that there’s so much more to life. It took the loss of both parents within 3 years to make me wake up and say “why am I stressing over this?” I realized that I just don’t have time for petty matters anymore. Don’t sweat the small stuff!

There are some things that are totally out of your control so why stress over it? I cannot control what other people think about me but I can control my reaction to their opinion. You have to get to a point where you don’t care what people think about you. You have to live life for yourself; not other people’s expectations.

Learn to forgive and let go. Forgiving DOES NOT mean forgetting. It means that you can release the toxic stench of hostility from your life. This is a big step toward better health – it’s that easy! I know people that carry grudges to the nth degree for years. They have been mad at each other for so long that they have forgotten what the cause of the disagreement in the first place. What sense does that make?

Many people suffer from the “never satisfied” syndrome. They don’t have what they want so they complain and are bitter about not being able to keep up with the Joneses. Some are not satisfied with their job – be thankful! There are many (especially right now) that wished they had a job to complain about. Some wish they had the money of others – you would be surprised at the numbers of people with money that are not happy. Some of the happiest people in the world are those who value each other, not the almighty dollar. Others want to look like so-and-so and hate the way they look – 9 times out of 10, there’s something to YOUR appearance that someone else admires. What you find as a flaw might be the very thing that makes you attractive and stand out from the crowd.

Letting go is the first step in creating a more positive and enriching life. A life less stressful is a life that’s happy, more complete and healthier. Why not start today by letting go of one thing at a time and see how your life improves immediately.
